Pipeline

DeveloGen's pipeline is focused on the discovery and development of first-in-class and best-in-class therapies for metabolic or endocrinological conditions with significant unmet medical need.

 First-in-class insulin sensitizers
The DeveloGen insulin sensitizers represent a novel class of orally available anti-diabetic small molecule drug candidates that are based on a novel and proprietary target. They address insulin resistance directly through targeting of the insulin receptor signal transduction cascade.
Preclinical studies in animal models demonstrate that increased target activity leads to insulin resistance and decreased target activity leads to increased insulin sensitivity.
Insulin sensitizers are currently in advanced lead optimization stages and have demonstrated superior efficacy compared to leading marketed oral anti-diabetic therapies.
Pre-clinical studies demonstrate, that the insulin sensitizers

  • Effectively increase insulin sensitivity.
  • Normalize blood glucose levels.
  • Normalize lipid levels.
  • Preserve beta cell mass.
  • Decrease weight gain.
A first-in-class beta cell regeneration factor
In a screen for potential beta cell regeneration targets DeveloGen has identified a secreted factor that demonstrates in preclinical studies:
  • Stimulation of beta cell proliferation and neogenesis in vitro and in vivo.
  • An increase in functional beta cell mass and a normalization of blood glucose levels after subcutaneous administration to animal models.
  • No to be affecting insulin sensitivity or insulin secretion.
The beta cell regeneration factor is projected to enter preclinical tox in 2009. The development of the factor has been supported by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
